Poverty and inequality is not inevitable
– it is a political choice.

A few percent of the worlds population holds an astoundingly disproportionate share of global wealth.

The growing gap between rich and poor is undermining the fight against poverty, damaging our economies and tearing our societies apart.

  • The world’s richest 1% have more than twice as much wealth as 6.9 billion people.
  • The 22 richest men in the world have more wealth than all the women in Africa.
  • Inequality is sexist. With less income and fewer assets than men, women make up the greatest proportion of the world’s poorest households, and that proportion is growing.

does migration solve poverty?

Migration is a controversial issue. Discussions about the consequences
of migration take place in communities and societies all around the world in both
developed and developing countries. People talk about the impact of irregular migration,
the loss of much-needed skills, social tensions and the rights of newcomers.

However, the fact is that immigrants often do not come from the poorest regions of the world because the poorest cannot afford the migration costs.

5 well-known arguments used by supporters and opponents of migration, respectively

Pro Migration

Migrants contribute more in taxes and social contributions than they receive in individual benefits
Migration brings a richer and more diverse culture
Migration boosts the working-age population. They arrive with skills and contribute to human capital
Religion is a fantastic integration glue and most Muslim migrants want democracy.
Studies show that both international migration and remittances significantly reduce the level, depth and severity of poverty in developing countries

Against Migration

Immigrants abuse the welfare state and form parallel societies instead of integrating
Immigrants are a major source of serious crimes
Today’s immigrants don’t assimilate like immigrants from previous waves did.
Islam laws is not compatible with democracy and therefore islamic migrants pose a threat to democracy
Migration does not solve poverty. The rich and poor countries must instead work together to solve the problems regionally.

Completely eradicating the problems of world poverty requires cross-border political cooperation

But as an individual, there are several things you can do to help reducing the world’s poverty problems.

There are many aid organizations that do a huge job, but less than one percentage of the population and companys are supporting them with funds.
